Functional Testing
Looking Beyond “Normal”
Many people come to me feeling tired, out of balance, or not quite themselves—yet have been told that everything looks “normal.”
But “normal” doesn’t always mean optimal.
You can feel far from your best, even when standard tests don’t show anything obvious. This is where functional testing can help.
Functional testing allows us to look deeper, helping us understand what may be contributing to your symptoms so we can take a more personalised and targeted approach to your health.
Looking Beyond “Normal”
Testing is not always necessary.
In many cases, we can make meaningful progress through nutrition and lifestyle changes alone.
However, where appropriate, functional testing can provide valuable insight—especially if your symptoms are more complex, long-standing, or not improving as expected.
If I feel testing would support you, I will always explain why. We will decide together if it feels right for you.
All testing is optional and carried out at an additional cost.
What Functional Testing Can Explore
Depending on your symptoms, we may use a range of simple at-home tests, including urine, saliva, blood (serum), and stool testing.
These Can Help Us Gain A Deeper Understanding Of:
- Hormone balance and your stress response (HPA axis) .
- Nutrient levels and vitamin status.
- Gut health, digestion, and the microbiome.
- Food sensitivities and immune responses.
- Cellular energy and mitochondrial function.
- Neurotransmitters and mood-related pathways.
- Detoxification pathways and toxin exposure.
- Oxidative stress and overall resilience.
- Genetic (genomic) insights to support personalised health strategies.
How This Helps You
When we understand what’s happening beneath the surface, we can move away from guesswork.
Instead, we create a plan that is tailored specifically to your body—supporting balance, energy, and long-term health in a way that feels realistic and achievable.
